On the origin of the name “Sudety” there is no unequivocal opinion among scientists, the majority opts for a Celtic its origin. The word “Sudeta” has a core “sud” meaning wild boar, and the suffix “-eta ‘meaning forest. The original meaning may, therefore, read as forest or forest boars feral pigs.
